General liability insurance for construction contractors

General liability insurance for construction contractors is a mandatory type of insurance according to Cabinet Regulation No.502 "Noteikumi par būvspeciālistu un būvdarbu veicēju civiltiesiskās atbildības obligāto apdrošināšanu".

Types of construction contractor GLI policies:

  • Construction contractor GLI annual policy, is valid for all construction sites during the insurance period,
  • Construction contractor GLI project policy, is valid for a specific construction site.

Mandatory insurance according to Cabinet Regulation No. 298 "Noteikumi par publiska pasākuma organizatora civiltiesiskās atbildības obligāto apdrošināšanu". the general liability insurance policy for event organizers protects the organizer from unexpected financial losses caused to event attendees, participants, or other persons.

Employer liability insurance

Compensates for damage caused to employees' health and property if it occurs while performing work duties and the employer is liable for it according to the legislation of the Republic of Latvia. It is also possible to cover occupational diseases that arise during work.

General liability insurance for property managers

A property manager is responsible to the owner of a residential building for performing the management tasks assigned to them in accordance with the Residential Building Management Law, the Civil Law, and the terms of the management agreement.

The manager is liable according to the law for failing to comply with legal requirements while performing management tasks.

General liability insurance for auto service providers

Auto service providers are responsible for potential losses that may occur to their clients as well as other third parties when providing car repair, car wash, or parking services.

General liability insurance for accommodation service providers

Hotels and guesthouses providing accommodation services are responsible for losses that may occur to their clients.

Civil Law, Article 1998, states that the hotelier is liable for travelers' belongings unless they prove that the loss occurred due to the travelers themselves, their guests or escorts, or due to force majeure.

The hotelier is also responsible for items handed over by travelers to them or their employees before arrival at the hotel. However, regarding money, securities, and valuables brought by travelers, liability is limited to 1420 EUR unless otherwise specified in the insurance contract.

General liability insurance for security service providers

According to the Security Activities Law, a security service provider is obliged to insure its civil liability for losses that it may cause to third parties.

General liability insurance for credit intermediaries

According to Cabinet Regulation No. 691 "Noteikumi par patērētāja kreditēšanu" of the Republic of Latvia, a credit intermediary is obliged to insure its civil liability for damage caused by its actions or inactions to collateral entrusted to the credit intermediary.

General liability insurance for cleaning service providers

Cleaning and janitorial service providers are responsible for losses to third parties caused by their actions or omissions while providing cleaning or janitorial services.

General liability insurance for HPP operators

According to the Law "On the Safety of Hydrotechnical Structures of Hydro Power Plants", the operator of Class A and B HPP hydrotechnical structures is obliged to insure its civil liability for damage caused by its actions or omissions to the life and health of third parties, damage to third-party property, and environmental harm while operating (using and maintaining) the hydrotechnical structures under its control.

Class A — structures where a failure poses a threat to human life and health, causes significant damage to the property of individuals and legal entities, and results in significant environmental harm;

Class B — structures where a failure does not pose a threat to human life and health but causes damage to the property of individuals and legal entities and environmental harm.

Civil liability insurance for drone owners

Mandatory insurance in accordance with Cabinet Regulation No. 447 “Noteikumi par civiltiesiskās atbildības obligāto apdrošināšanu 
bezpilota gaisa kuģu lidojumiem.” Civil liability insurance (CTA) for drone owners protects against unexpected financial losses caused to third parties.

Covered damages include:

  • Damage to third parties’ life or health;
  • Damage or loss of third parties’ property;
  • Consequential financial losses;
  • Legal and litigation costs;
